FSSS Programme Objectives

BENEFITS OF THE PROGRAMME

Completion of the programme will help participants to

  •  keep themselves and others safe, both in custody and on release

  • reduce the risk of re-offending.

 PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

By the end of this programme participants will be able to:

  • identify STRATEGIES for maintaining their own safety and the safety of others

  • recognise the importance of being able to RESOLVE CONFLICT in non–violent ways

  • understand the role of clear COMMUNICATION in developing safe relationships.

  • develop and maintain a PERSONAL SUPPORT NETWORK

  • recognise the importance of developing positive SELF ESTEEM and so have greater confidence to resist peer pressure to offend

  • recognise individual RIGHTS and RESPONSIBILITIES towards creating safe families and communities. – to develop empathy

  • recognise the influence of VALUES and ATTITUDES on behaviour

  • understand the influence of the UNWRITTEN RULES OF SOCIETY on the way they FEEL, THINK and BEHAVE

In summary - to learn and apply the PROTECTIVE BEHAVIOURS PROCESS.
